Are You a Carer?

Local (Leicestershire) Directory

There are more than 130 organisations dedicated to helping West Leicestershire people deal with health matters.

This wealth of local help is now available in a new directory of support groups launched by the CCG.

The online directory contains contact points for voluntary organisations and advisers offering support, advice and guidance for a wide range of health issues. Topics include asthma, arthritis, caring, Parkinson’s disease, breathing conditions, heart disease, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, stopping smoking, stress, anxiety and mental health.

Patients can access the directory by clicking onto this link

http://www.westleicestershireccg.nhs.uk/self-help-groups

Users can search the database by category or by typing in their postcode.

GPs will also use the directory to advise patients on where they can access additional local self-help as part of managing some health conditions.

  • Taking a break

Caring for someone can be a full-time job, but it's essential that you take time out for yourself too. Read our guide to accessing breaks and respite.

  • Housing and carers

Do you know your tenancy rights as a carer? Are you aware of all your care at home options? Do you need tips on moving someone around the home?
